Sahl ibn Mu'adh ibn Anas narrated from his father (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
It is enough misery and disappointment for a believer that he hears the caller to prayer calling people to prayer, yet does not respond to him.
ʿUrwah ibn al-Zubayr reported:
I was with ʿAisha (may Allah be pleased with her), and Hassan ibn Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) was mentioned and spoken ill of. She heard this and said: “Whom are you mentioning?” They said: “Hassan.” She said: “Enough! I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: ‘Hassan is a barrier between the believers and the hypocrites. No hypocrite loves him, and no believer hates him.’”
Ibn ʿUmar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated:
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to the spouses who had performed liʿān: “Your reckoning is with Allah. One of you is lying. You have no right over her.” He [the husband] said: “O Messenger of Allah, what about my money?” He said: “You have no money to reclaim. If you have told the truth about her, then your money was in return for the sexual intercourse which you lawfully had with her. But if you have lied against her, then your claim to it is even farther removed, and farther still.
On the authority of 'Afif al-Kindi:
I was a merchant, and I came for Hajj. I went to al-'Abbas ibn 'Abd al-Muttalib to buy some goods from him, for he was a merchant too. By Allah, I was with him at Mina when a man came out of a tent near him, looked at the sun, and when he saw that it had passed its zenith, he stood to pray. Then a woman came out of the same tent the man had come out of, and stood behind him praying. Then a boy who was approaching puberty came out of that tent and stood with him, praying. I said to al-'Abbas: 'Who is this, O 'Abbas?' He said: 'This is Muhammad ibn 'Abdullah ibn 'Abd al-Muttalib, my nephew.' I said: 'And who is this woman?' He said: 'This is his wife, Khadijah bint Khuwaylid.' I said: 'And who is this young man?' He said: 'This is 'Ali ibn Abi Talib, his cousin.' I said: 'What is this that he is doing?' He said: 'He is praying. He claims that he is a prophet, and no one has followed him in his cause except his wife and this young man, his cousin. And he claims that the treasures of Khosrau and Caesar will be opened up for him.'" He [the narrator] said: 'Afif, who was a cousin of al-Ash'ath ibn Qays, used to say, after he had accepted Islam and his Islam had become good: "If only Allah had granted me Islam on that day, I would have been the third [Muslim] alongside 'Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him)."'
'Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
When a servant becomes accustomed to turning away from Allah, the Exalted, He afflicts him with speaking ill of the righteous.
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The protected area of a well is forty cubits all around it, for the watering places of camels and sheep. The wayfarer is the first to drink, and surplus water is not to be withheld so as to withhold the pasture.
Al-Mustawrid ibn Shaddad al-Fihri (may Allah be pleased with him) reported:
I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), when he performed ablution, rub between the toes of his feet with his little finger.
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
“The area between the two lava fields of Madinah has been declared a sacred sanctuary through my tongue.” Abu Hurayrah said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to Banu Harithah and said: “I see, O Banu Harithah, that you have gone beyond the sacred boundary.” Then he looked again and said: “Rather, you are within it.”
Abu Jaʿfar narrated from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him):
He summoned the Jews and questioned them, and they spoke to him until they lied about Jesus. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) then ascended the pulpit and addressed the people, saying: “Indeed, reports will spread about me. Whatever comes to you from me that agrees with the Qur’an is from me, and whatever comes to you from me that contradicts the Qur’an is not from me.”
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The sanctity of the neighbor upon his neighbor is like the sanctity of his blood.
On the authority of 'Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her):
When the verses near the end of Surat al-Baqarah were revealed, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went out and said: “Trade in wine has been prohibited.”
Narrated by Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who said:
A morning journey in the cause of Allah, or an evening journey, is better than the world and all that it contains. And the span of an archer’s bow among you, or the space occupied by his foot in Paradise, is better than the world and all that it contains. If a woman from among the women of the people of Paradise were to look down upon the earth, she would illuminate all that lies between them [heaven and earth] and fill it with fragrance. And the veil upon her head is better than the world and all that it contains.
