Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to us:
If one of you becomes angry while standing, let him sit down; if the anger leaves him [that is sufficient], but if not, let him lie down.
On the authority of 'Imran ibn Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to my father:
"O Husayn, how many gods do you worship today?" My father said: "Seven — six on earth and one in heaven." He said: "Which of them do you turn to for your hopes and fears?" He said: "The one in heaven." He said: "O Husayn, if you were to become Muslim, I would teach you two phrases that would benefit you." So when Husayn became Muslim, he said: "O Messenger of Allah, teach me the two phrases you promised me." So he said: "Say: O Allah, inspire me with right guidance, and protect me from the evil of my own soul."
On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Whoever spends a pair of something in the cause of Allah will be called from the gates of Paradise: "O servant of Allah, this is good." So Whoever is among the people of prayer will be called from the Gate of Prayer; whoever is among the people of jihad will be called from the Gate of Jihad; whoever is among the people of fasting will be called from the Gate of al-Rayyan; and whoever is among the people of charity will be called from the Gate of Charity." Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "May my father and mother be ransomed for you, O Messenger of Allah! There is no loss for one who is called from [only] one of those gates [i.e., being called from a single gate is already a triumph]. Will anyone be called from all of those gates?" He said: "Yes, and I hope that you will be one of them."
On the authority of al-Waḍin ibn 'Aṭa', that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The Mountain of al-Khalil is a sacred mountain. When tribulation appeared among the Children of Israel, Allah, Exalted is He, revealed to their prophets that they should flee with their religion to the Mountain of al-Khalil.
On the authority of al-Muntajiʿ al-Najdi, who said:
I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he said: "Are you asking me, or shall I tell you?" I said: "Tell me." He said: "You have come to ask me about the vastness of Allah's mercy, so let me tell you that Allah, Exalted is He, says: 'I have never become angry with anyone the way I become angry with a servant who commits a sin and then regards it as too great to be within reach of My pardon. Had I been quick to punish, or had haste been My way, I would have hastened [punishment] for those who despair of My mercy. And if I did not show mercy to My servants except for their fear of standing before Me, I would have rewarded them for that, and made their reward for it security from what they feared.'"
Ibn ʿAbbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Indeed, Allah has pardoned my Ummah for mistakes, forgetfulness, and what they are compelled to do.
Ibn ʿAbbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Indeed, I have left among you that which, if you hold fast to it, you will never go astray: the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
On the authority of Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), who said:
When the verse was revealed: {Indeed, you [disbelievers] and what you worship other than Allāh are the firewood of Hell. You will be coming to [enter] it.} (Qur'an 21:98), this was hard for the people of Makkah to bear, and they said: "Muhammad has insulted our gods." So Ibn al-Zib'ara stood up and said: "What is the matter with you?" They said: "Muhammad has insulted our gods." He said: "What did he say?" They said: "He said: {Indeed, you [disbelievers] and what you worship other than Allāh are the firewood of Hell. You will be coming to [enter] it.}'" He said: "Call him to me." So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was called, and Ibn al-Zib'ara said: "O Muhammad, is this specific to our gods, or does it apply to everyone who is worshipped besides Allah?" He said: "Rather, it applies to everyone who is worshipped besides Allah, Mighty and Sublime." Ibn al-Zib'ara said: "Then we have won the argument, by the Lord of this House! O Muhammad, do you not claim that 'Isa (Jesus) is a righteous servant, and 'Uzayr is a righteous servant, and the angels are righteous servants?" He said: "Yes indeed." He said: "Well, the Christians worship 'Isa, the Jews worship 'Uzayr, and Banu Malih worship the angels." So the people of Makkah raised an uproar (of approval), and then the verse was revealed: {Indeed, those for whom the best [reward] has preceded from Us — they will be removed far from it [Hell].} (Qur'an 21:101) — referring to 'Isa, 'Uzayr, and the angels. And the verse was revealed: {And when the son of Mary was presented as an example, immediately your people laughed aloud.} (Qur'an 43:57).
On the authority of Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him):
He saw Khalid ibn al-Walid (may Allah be pleased with him) while the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was shaving his head. Khalid said: "O Messenger of Allah, your forelock! Do not let anyone else have preference over me for it — may my father and mother be sacrificed for you!". So he took the forelock of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and would place it upon his eyes and in his mouth.
On the authority of Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both):
Whenever he purchased a slave woman, he would uncover her leg, place his hand between her breasts, and upon her buttocks.
On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Indeed, Allah, Mighty and Majestic, detests the one who eats beyond his fill, the one who is heedless of obeying his Lord, the one who abandons the Sunnah of his Prophet, the one who violates his covenant, the one who harbors hatred toward the family of his Prophet, and the one who harms his neighbors.
Jabir ibn ʿAbdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
When a great calamity occurs or a dark, stormy wind arises, hold fast to saying the takbir (Allahu Akbar); for indeed it clears away the black dust storm.
