Takhrij Hadith 1068: "people said 'O Messenger of…"
Abu Hurayra reported:
“
people said 'O Messenger of Allah will we see our Lord on the Day of Resurrection? ,The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Do you have any doubt about seeing the moon on a clear full-moon night? ,They replied, No, O Messenger of Allah. He said, Do you have any doubt about seeing the sun when there are no clouds? They replied, No, O Messenger of Allah. He said, Indeed, you will see Him just like that. Allah will gather the people on the Day of Resurrection and say 'Whoever used to worship anything, let him follow it.' So, those who used to worship the sun will follow the sun, those who used to worship the moon will follow the moon, and those who used to worship false deities will follow them. Then this nation will remain, including its hypocrites or its intercessors -Ibrahim, the narrator, was hesitant—and Allah will come and will say 'I am your Lord' and they will say ' this is our place until our lord will comes, and if he comes we will know him' and Allah comes in a form which they know, and he will say 'I am your Lord.' They will say 'You are our Lord,' and they will follow Him. Then the As-Sirat will be laid across Hell, and I and my nation will be the first to cross it. None will speak on that Day except the Messengers, and the supplication of the Messengers on that Day will be 'O Allah, grant safety, grant safety!' In Hell, there are hooks like the thorns of As-Sa'dan , Have you seen As-Sa'dan? They said, Yes, O Messenger of Allah. He said, Indeed, they are like the thorns of As-Sa'dan, but no one knows their immense size except Allah. They will snatch people away according to their deeds, so among them is the destroyed one who remains due to his deed, or the detained one due to his deed, and among them is the one cut into small pieces, or the one punished accordingly ,or the like of it,then he is saved. until when Allah finishes judging between His servants, and wants to take out of the Fire whomever He wills by his mercy, He will order the angels to bring out of the Fire those who did not associate anything with Allah those whom Allah wishes to show mercy, who used to testify that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah. The angels will recognize them in the Fire by the marks of prostration , for the Fire consumes all of the son of Adam except the marks of prostration, Allah has forbidden the Fire to consume the marks of prostration. They will be brought out of the Fire having been burnt to charcoal. Then, the Water of Life will be poured over them, and they will sprout underneath it just as a seed sprouts in the silt carried by a flood. Then, when Allah finishes judging between His servants, one man will remain with his face turned toward the Fire. He will be the last of the people of the Fire to enter Paradise. He will say 'O my Lord! Turn my face away from the Fire, for its breeze has poisoned me and its flame has burnt me.' He will supplicate to Allah with what Allah wills him to supplicate. Then Allah will say 'If I grant you this, would you ask for anything else?' The man will say 'No, by Your Honor! I will not ask You for anything else,' and he will give his Lord whatever covenants and promises Allah wills. So Allah will turn his face away from the Fire. When he faces Paradise and sees it, he will remain silent for as long as Allah wills him to remain silent. Then he will say 'O my Lord! Bring me closer to the gate of Paradise.' Allah will say 'Did you not give your covenants and promises that you would never ask for anything other than what I gave you? Woe to you, O son of Adam! How treacherous you are!' The man will say 'O Lord!' and will keep supplicating until Allah says to him 'If I grant you this, would you ask for anything else?' He will reply 'No, by Your Honor! I will not ask You for anything else,' and he will give his Lord covenants and promises. So Allah will bring him to the gate of Paradise. When he stands at the gate of Paradise, Paradise will open before him, and he will see the bliss and joy within it. He will remain silent for as long as Allah wills him to remain silent, then he will say 'O my Lord! Admit me into Paradise.' Allah will say 'Did you not give your covenants and promises that you would not ask for anything else? Woe to you, O son of Adam! How treacherous you are!' The man will say 'O Lord! Do not make me the most wretched of Your creation!' He will continue to supplicate to Allah until Allah laughs because of him. When Allah laughs because of him, He will say to him 'Enter Paradise.' When he enters it, Allah will tell him: 'Wish for whatever you want.' So he will wish and ask his Lord, until Allah reminds him, saying 'Wish for this and that,' until all his desires are exhausted. Then Allah will say 'You shall have all of that, and the like of it along with it.
