Takhrij Hadith 1083: "The Messenger of Allah, may…"
Ali ibn Abi Talib Reported:
“
The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, entered upon us while Fatimah, peace be upon her, was sitting near the cooking pot and I was sorting lentils, He said, O Abu Al-Hasan, I said, At your service O Messenger of Allah, He said, Listen, for I do not say except what my Lord commanded me; There is no man who helps his wife in her house except that for every hair on his body he receives the reward of a year of worship—fasting its days and standing its nights in prayer—and Allah grants him the reward of the patient, of David the Prophet, of Jacob, and of Jesus, peace be upon them, O Ali, whoever is in the service of his family in the house and does not disdain it, Allah writes his name in the register of martyrs, and writes for him for every day and night the reward of a thousand martyrs, and writes for him for every step the reward of a Hajj and Umrah, and Allah the Almighty grants him for every sweat-drop that flows from his body a city in Paradise, O Ali, an hour in the service of the house is better than a thousand years of worship, a thousand Hajj, a thousand Umrah, better than freeing a thousand slaves, a thousand military expeditions, visiting a thousand sick people, attending a thousand Friday prayers, a thousand funerals, feeding a thousand hungry people, clothing a thousand naked people, preparing a thousand horses in the cause of Allah, better than donating a thousand dinars to the poor, better than reading the Torah, the Gospel, the Psalms, and the Furqan, and better than buying a thousand captives and freeing them, and better than giving a thousand camels to the poor, and he does not leave this world until he sees his place in Paradise, O Ali, whoever does not disdain the service of the family will enter Paradise without account, O Ali, the service of the family is an expiation for major sins, extinguishes the anger of the Lord, is the dowry for the wide-eyed maidens, and increases good deeds and ranks, O Ali, none serves the family except a truthful person, a martyr, or a man for whom Allah intends the good of this world and the Hereafter.”
