Takhrij Hadith 1183: "You have asked about a…"
On the authority of Makhlul: that a man asked Abu Al-Darda’ about the fasting of Rajab? So he said:
“
You have asked about a month which the Jahiliyyah used to venerate in its ignorance, and Islam did not add to it except virtue and veneration, so whoever fasts a day in it voluntarily, seeking with it the reward of Allah the Mighty and Majestic, and seeking by it His Face sincerely, his fasting on that day extinguishes the anger of Allah, and a gate from the gates of Hellfire is closed from him. And if he were given the fill of the earth in gold, that would not be a reward for him, and his reward from the world would not be completed without the Day of judgment .And when he reaches evening, he has ten answered supplications, if he supplicates for something from the immediate world , He gives it to him, otherwise He stores for him from the good what is better than the supplication of a caller from among the allies of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, His loved ones, and His chosen ones. And whoever fasts two days, he has the likes of that, and he has along with that the reward of ten of the truthful ones in their lifetime, no matter how long their lifespans reached, and he intercedes for the likes of those who are interceded for, and he will be in their group until he enters Paradise with them, and he will be from their companions. And whoever fasts three days, he has the likes of that, and Allah says to him at his breaking of the fast 'The right of My servant has become binding, and My love and My guardianship have become mandatory for him; I call you to witness, O My angels, that I have forgiven him what has preceded of his sins and what has come later.' And whoever fasts four days, he has the likes of that, and the likeness of the reward of the primary understanding ones , his book is given in the first of the successful ones. And whoever fasts five days, he has the likes of that, and he is resurrected on the Day of Resurrection, and his face is like the moon on the night of the full moon, and there is written for him the number of the sand of ‘Alij in good deeds, and he enters Paradise, and it is said to him 'Propose to Allah whatever you wish.' And whoever fasts six days, he has the likes of that, and he is given besides that a light by which the people of the gathering seek illumination on the Day of Resurrection, and he is resurrected among the secure ones until he passes over the Sirat ,without an account, and he is cured from undutifulness to parents and the severing of the womb , and Allah meets him with His Face when he meets Him on the Day of Resurrection. And whoever fasts seven days, he has the likes of that, and the seven gates of hell are closed from him, and Allah forbids him upon the Fire, and Paradise becomes mandatory for him to take quarters from it wherever he wishes. And whoever fasts eight days, he has the likes of that, and the eight gates of Paradise are opened for him to enter from whichever of them he wishes. And whoever fasts nine days, he has the likes of that, and his record is raised to ‘Illiyyin, and he is resurrected on the Day of Resurrection among the secure ones, and he exits from his grave with his face glistening with a light that shines for the people of the gathering, so they say 'This is a chosen Prophet,' and indeed the lowest of what he is given is to enter Paradise without an account. And whoever fasts ten days, then lucky him, lucky him , lucky him , he has the likes of that, and tenfold multiplies, and he is from those whose bad deeds Allah replaces with good deeds, and he is from the close ones who establish justice for Allah, like someone who worshipped a thousand years standing in prayer and fasting, being patient and seeking reward. And whoever fasts twenty days, he has the likes of that, and a twenty-fold increase, and he is from those who crowd Ibrahim, the close friend of Allah, in his dome, and he intercedes for the likes of Rabi’ah and Mudar, all of them from the people of offenses and sins. And whoever fasts thirty days, he has the likes of that, and a thirty-fold increase, and a caller calls out in the heaven 'Glad tidings, O ally of Allah, with the greatest honor, looking towards the Face of Allah, the Generous, the Mighty and Majestic, in the companionship of the Prophets, the Truthful ones, the Martyrs, and the Righteous, and excellent are those as companions! Glad tidings to you, then glad tidings to you three times, tomorrow when the veil is uncovered, and you will proceed to me the the immense reward of your Lord. Then when death descends upon him, Allah quenches his thirst upon the exit of his soul with a drink from the basins of Al-Firdous, and He eases upon him the intoxication of death until he does not find for death any pain, so he remains in his grave well-hydrated until he arrives at the basin of Muhammad ﷺ. Then when he exits from his grave, seventy thousand angels meet him, with them are standard-bearers of pearls and chrysolite, and with them are vessels of jewelry and robes, so they say to him "O ally of Allah, the Savior who thirsted your day for Him, and emaciated your body for Him, so he is the first of the people to enter the Gardens of Eden on the Day of Resurrection with the successful ones whom Allah is pleased with and they are pleased with Him,that is the supreme success. He said 'So if he has for every day a charity according to his capacity that he gives as charity with it, then how far, how far , how far three times. If all of creation were to gather to estimate the measure of what that servant is given of reward, they would not reach a tenth of a tenth of what that servant is given of reward.
