Takhrij Hadith 1262: ""O Allah, my age has…"
It is narrated from al-ʿIrbad ibn Sariyah, who was an elderly Companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He used to long to be taken back to his Lord, and he would supplicate:
“
"O Allah, my age has advanced, my bones have grown weak, so take me to You." He said: "One day, while I was in the Mosque of Damascus, a young man appeared, one of the most handsome of men, wearing a green cloak. He said: 'What is this supplication that you are making?'" I replied: "How should I supplicate, O son of my brother?" He said: "Say: 'O Allah, enable me to perform righteous deeds well, and let me reach my appointed term.'" I asked: "Who are you? May Allah have mercy on you." He replied: "I am Ribail, the one who removes sorrow from the hearts of the believers."”
