Takhrij Hadith 127: "Mu’adh ibn Jabal al-Ansari led…"

Mu’adh ibn Jabal al-Ansari led his companions in the ‘Isha prayer and prolonged it for them. A man from among us departed and prayed [alone]. When Mu’adh was informed of this, he said: “He is a hypocrite.” When this reached the man, he visited the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and informed him of what Mu’adh had said. The Prophet ﷺ said to him: “Do you want to be a source of trial , O Mu’adh?! When you lead the people, recite: “By the sun and its brightness”, and “Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most High”, and “Read, O Prophet, in the Name of your Lord”, and “By the night when it covers”.
