Takhrij Hadith 1389: "The people most beloved to…"

On the authority of 'Umar, a man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: "O Messenger of Allah, which people are most beloved to Allah, and which deeds are most beloved to Allah?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

“
The people most beloved to Allah are those who are most beneficial to people. And the deeds most beloved to Allah are: bringing joy to a Muslim, relieving him of a hardship, settling a debt on his behalf, or driving away his hunger. And if I were to walk with a brother to fulfill his need, that would be more beloved to me than to observe iʿtikaf (seclusion) in this mosque of mine for a month in Madinah. Whoever restrains his anger, Allah will conceal his faults. And whoever suppresses his rage, even though he could have acted upon it if he wished, Allah will fill his heart with hope on the Day of Resurrection. And whoever walks with his brother to fulfill his need until he accomplishes it for him, Allah will keep his feet firm on the Day when feet slip.
