Takhrij Hadith 1472: "“What do you say about…"
Narrated by Tuwayl Shatb al-Mamdud (may Allah be pleased with him), that he came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said:
“
“What do you say about a man who has committed every kind of sin, but has not associated anything with Allah in worship, and who, in doing so, would never encounter anyone on the road—whether going or returning—without waylaying them and seizing their property boldly and by force? Is there any repentance for such a man?” He said: “Have you embraced Islam?” He replied: “As for me, I bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone, without any partner, and that you are the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.” He said: “Yes. Do good deeds and abandon evil deeds, and Allah, Mighty and Majestic, will turn them all into good deeds.” He said: “Even my acts of treachery and my wicked deeds?” He said: “Yes.” He said: “Allah is the Greatest!” He continued proclaiming Allah’s greatness until he disappeared from sight.”
