Takhrij Hadith 1511: "That Umar ibn Al-Khattab, may…"
It is narrated in some reports:
“
That Umar ibn Al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, met Hudhayfah ibn Al-Yaman while he was, at that time, the Commander of the Believers, so he said to Hudhayfah: How did you wake up, O Hudhayfah?. He said: I woke up, O Commander of the Believers, loving fitnah, hating the truth, saying that which was not created, bearing witness to what I have not seen, praying without ablution, and I have on earth what Allah does not have in heaven. Umar became extremely angry at that, and intended to seize him, then he remembered his companionship with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so he held back. While he was in that state, Ali ibn Abi Talib, may Allah be pleased with him, passed by him and saw anger on his face, so he said: What has angered you, O Commander of the Believers? He told him the story. He said: O Commander of the Believers, do not let that anger you. As for his saying that he loves fitnah, it is the interpretation of the saying of Allah Almighty: {Your wealth and your children are only a trial}. As for his saying that he hates the truth, the truth is death, which is inevitable and from which there is no escape. As for his saying that he says that which was not created: the Quran, for he recites the Quran, and it is uncreated. As for his saying that he bears witness to what he has not seen, he believes in Allah though he has not seen Him. As for his saying that he prays without ablution, he sends prayers upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) without ablution. As for his saying that he has on earth what Allah does not have in heaven, he has a wife and children, and Allah has none of that. Umar said: May Allah reward you, O Abu Al-Hasan, you have removed from me a great worry”
