Takhrij Hadith 153: "I came to the Prophet…"

I came to the Prophet ﷺ along with a group of my people, and he said: “Rejoice, and convey the glad tidings to those behind you: whoever testifies that there is no deity worthy of worship but Allah, being sincere in it, will enter Paradise”. So we left the Prophet ﷺ to give people this glad tiding, but we were met by ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him), who took us back to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.‘Umar said: “O Messenger of Allah, the people will rely solely upon it [and cease to strive in good deeds]”. He (the narrator) said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ remained silent.
