Takhrij Hadith 1562: "Ubayd Allah ibn Ziyad used…"

Ubayd Allah ibn Ziyad used to ask about the Hawd, the basin of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and he used to deny it, after he had asked Abu Barzah, al-Bara ibn Azib, Aidh ibn Amr, and another man, and he still denied it. So Abu Sabrah said: I will narrate to you a hadith in which there is healing for this. Your father sent some wealth with me to Muawiyah, and I met Abdullah ibn Amr, so he narrated to me from what he had heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he dictated it to me, so I wrote it with my own hand. I did not add a single letter, nor did I omit a single letter. He narrated to me that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Indeed, Allah does not love obscenity -or He hates the obscene and the one who deliberately acts obscenely. He said: And the Hour will not come until obscenity and deliberate obscenity become widespread, ties of kinship are severed, neighborly relations become bad, the treacherous person is trusted, and the trustworthy person is considered treacherous. And he said: Indeed, your appointed meeting is at my Hawd. Its width and length are the same, and it is like the distance between Aylah and Makkah, a distance of one month’s travel. In it are pitchers like the stars. Its drink is whiter than silver. Whoever drinks from it once will never feel thirsty after that, ever. Ubayd Allah said: I have not heard any hadith about the Hawd more established than this. So he believed in it, took the written sheet, and kept it with him.
