It was narrated from Ata, who said:
“
While the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was teaching the tashahhud (the testimony recited in prayer), a man said: And I bear witness that Muhammad is His Messenger and His servant. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I was a servant before I was a Messenger. Say: And I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and His Messenger.”
