Takhrij Hadith 1660: "A woman must not travel…"
It was narrated from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), who said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said :
“
A woman must not travel except with a mahram (an unmarriageable male guardian), and no man should enter upon her unless she has a mahram with her. A man said: O Messenger of Allah, I want to go out with such-and-such army, while my wife wants to perform Hajj (pilgrimage). He said: Go out with her.”
