Takhrij Hadith 1740: "One day, while he was…"

It is narrated from Umar (may Allah be pleased with him):

“
One day, while he was having his midday meal, a man came running to him with a sword stained with blood in his hand, while some people were running after him. He came and sat with Umar, then the others arrived and said: O Commander of the Believers, this man killed our companion. Umar said to him: What are they saying? He said: O Commander of the Believers, I struck between my wife’s thighs, and if there was anyone between them, then I killed him. Umar said: What is he saying? They said: O Commander of the Believers, he struck with the sword, and it landed in the middle of the man and between the woman’s thighs. Umar took his sword, shook it, then handed it back to him and said: If they do it again, then do likewise.
