We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at a funeral. He saw some people who had cast off their cloaks and were walking in their shirts. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Are you adopting the practices of the pre-Islamic age of ignorance? Or are you imitating the ways of the age of ignorance? I nearly invoked a supplication against you that would cause you to return in forms other than your own”. So they took up their cloaks and did not repeat that again.
