Takhrij Hadith 1846: "I heard the Messenger of…"

Saʿd ibn Malik, who was Saʿd ibn Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him), reported:

“
I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: “Shall I not direct you to the Greatest Name of Allah, by which, when He is supplicated, He responds, and when He is asked by it, He gives? It is the supplication with which Yunus called upon Him when he cried out in the threefold darkness: ‘There is no deity worthy of worship except You. Glory be to You! Indeed, I was among the wrongdoers.’ A man asked: “O Messenger of Allah, was this particular to Yunus, or is it general for the believers?” The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Have you not heard the saying of Allah, Mighty and Majestic: {And We saved him from distress, and thus do We save the believers}? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) also said: “Any Muslim who supplicates with this in his illness forty times, then dies of that illness, will be given the reward of a martyr; and if he recovers, he will recover with all his sins forgiven.”
