Takhrij Hadith 1862: "We went out on a…"

We went out on a rainy night of intense darkness, seeking the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) so that he might lead us in prayer. We caught up with him, and he said: "Have you prayed?" I said nothing. He said: "Say" I said nothing. Then he said: "Say" and I said nothing. Then he said: "Say" so I said: "O Messenger of Allah, what shall I say?" He said: "Say: {Say, He is Allah, the One} (Surat al-Ikhlas), and the two Mu'awwidhatayn (Surat al-Falaq and Surat al-Nas), when you enter the evening and when you enter the morning, three times — they will suffice you against everything."
