Takhrij Hadith 1869: "I asked al-Husayn ibn 'Ali…"

I asked al-Husayn ibn 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) about 'Ali's (may Allah be pleased with him) tashahhud [the testimony of faith recited while sitting in prayer], and he said: "It is the tashahhud of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)." I said: "And what about the tashahhud of 'Abdullah?" He said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to love to make things easy for his nation." I said: "How did 'Ali recite the tashahhud of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?" He said: "All greetings, prayers, and good things — the morning-going and evening-returning, the pure and wholesome ones — belong to Allah."
