Takhrij Hadith 1878: "An effeminate man was brought…"

An effeminate man was brought to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) who had dyed his hands and feet with henna. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “What is the matter with this man?” They said: “O Messenger of Allah, he imitates women.” So he issued an order regarding him and he was banished to an-Naqi'. They said: “O Messenger of Allah, should we not kill him?” He said: “I have been forbidden from killing those who pray.”
