On the authority of ʿAbdullah ibn ʿUmar (may Allah be pleased with them both), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:

“

Whoever goes to bed in a state of purity will have an angel remain close to him throughout the night. Whenever he wakes up, the angel says: “O Allah, forgive Your servant so-and-so, for he went to bed in a state of purity.”

”
