Takhrij Hadith 1937: "When evening came, the Messenger…"
On the authority of ʿAbdullah ibn Masʿud (may Allah be pleased with him), who said:
“
When evening came, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would say: “We have entered the evening, and sovereignty belongs to Allah. All praise is due to Allah. There is no deity worthy of worship except Allah alone, with no partner. To Him belongs sovereignty, and to Him belongs all praise, and He is capable of all things. O Allah, I ask You for the good of this night, and I seek refuge in You from the evil of this night and the evil that follows it. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from laziness and the weakness of extreme old age. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from punishment in the Fire and punishment in the grave.””
