A man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: “O Messenger of Allah, advise me.” He replied: “Adhere to the fear of Allah, for it encompasses all goodness. Adhere to striving in the cause of Allah, for it is the monasticism of the Muslims. Adhere to the remembrance of Allah and the recitation of His Book, for it is a light for you on earth and a means of your being mentioned in heaven. And guard your tongue, speaking only what is good, for by doing so you will overcome Satan.”
