Takhrij Hadith 2086: "The Messenger of Allah (peace…"
Narrated by ʿIyad ibn Himar al-Mujashiʿi (may Allah be pleased with him):
“
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said one day in his sermon: “Indeed, my Lord has commanded me to teach you what you do not know from what He has taught me today. “Whatever wealth I have bestowed upon a servant is lawful. I created all My servants inclined towards pure monotheism, but the devils came to them and turned them away from their religion. They made unlawful for them what I had made lawful for them, and commanded them to associate with Me in worship that for which I had sent down no authority.” Indeed, Allah looked upon the people of the earth and detested them, both Arabs and non-Arabs, except for remnants of the People of the Scripture. And He said: “I have sent you to test you and to test others through you. I have sent down to you a Book that water cannot wash away; you recite it while asleep and while awake.” Indeed, Allah has commanded me to attack Quraysh. I said: “My Lord, in that case, they will smash my head and leave it like a loaf of bread!” He said: “Drive them out as they drove you out, wage war against them, and We shall support you. Spend, and We shall provide for you. Send out an army, and We shall send out five times its number. Fight, with those who obey you, against those who disobey you.” He then said: “The people of Paradise are of three types: A just ruler who gives generously and is granted success; a compassionate person with a tender heart towards every relative and Muslim; and a chaste person who maintains his dignity, despite having dependants to support. The people of Hellfire are of five types: The weak person who lacks restraint, who merely follows others among you and seeks neither a family nor wealth; the treacherous person who does not conceal any desire for personal gain, however insignificant, but betrays the trust; a person who deceives you morning and evening concerning your family and your wealth; he also mentioned miserliness or lying; and the coarse, foul-mouthed person who uses obscene language.” Abu Ghassan did not include in his narration the words: “Spend, and We shall provide for you.”
