Takhrij Hadith 2117: "The Angel of Death came…"

The Angel of Death came to a man who was dying. He searched the man’s limbs for any good deed they had done, and found none. Then he searched his heart and found no good in it. Then he opened the man’s jaws and found the tip of his tongue pressed against the roof of his mouth, uttering: “La ilaha ila Allah (There is no god but Allah).” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “So he was forgiven because of the word of sincerity.”
