Takhrij Hadith 2119: "The Companions of the Messenger…"
Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported:
“
The Companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to say: “Indeed, Allah benefits us through the Bedouins and their questions.” One day, a Bedouin came and said: “O Messenger of Allah, Allah has mentioned in the Qur’an a tree that causes harm, and I never thought there would be a tree in Paradise that would harm its inhabitants.” The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked: “What tree is it?” He replied: “The lote tree, for it has thorns.” The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “{[They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed} (Qur’an 56:28). Allah will remove its thorns and make a fruit in place of each thorn. It bears fruit, each fruit of which splits open to reveal seventy-two varieties of food, none of which resembles another.””
