Takhrij Hadith 2151: "Ibn ʿUmar (may Allah be…"
Narrated by ʿAbdullah ibn al-Harith, who said:
“
Ibn ʿUmar (may Allah be pleased with them both) would say, whenever he went to bed: “O Allah, You created my soul, and You take it in death. To You belong its death and its life. O Allah, if You take it in death, then forgive it; and if You keep it alive, then protect it. O Allah, I ask You for well-being”. A man from among his sons said to him: "Did ʿUmar used to say this?" He replied: "Rather, someone better than ʿUmar used to say it." He said: "So we assumed that he meant the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)."”
