Takhrij Hadith 2155: "Whenever a servant is afflicted…"

Narrated by ʿAbdullah ibn Masʿud (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessing be upon him) said:

“
Whenever a servant is afflicted with worry and grief and says: "O Allah, I am Your servant, the son of Your male servant and the son of Your female servant. My forelock is in Your Hand. Your command over me is ever executed, and Your decree concerning me is just. I ask You by every Name that belongs to You, by which You have named Yourself, or which You have revealed in Your Book, or taught to any of Your creation, or kept exclusively with Yourself in the knowledge of the unseen, to make the Qur’an the springtime of my heart, the light of my chest, the removal of my sadness, and the departure of my worries," Allah, the Almighty, will surely remove his worry and replace his grief with joy." They said: "O Messenger of Allah, should we learn these words?" He replied: "Yes, whoever hears them should learn them."
