Talhah ibn 'Ubaydullah reported:

Then it became clear that he was asking about Islam. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Five prayers during the day and the night.' The man asked: 'Am I required to perform any others?' He replied: 'No, unless you perform voluntary prayers.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said: 'And fasting during Ramadan.' The man asked: 'Am I required to do any other fasting?' He replied: 'No, unless you fast voluntarily.' Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ mentioned zakah (the obligatory charity) to him. The man asked: 'Am I required to give anything besides that?' He replied: 'No, unless you give voluntarily.' Then the man turned away saying: 'By Allah, I will neither add to this nor subtract from it.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'He will succeed if he is truthful.”
