Takhrij Hadith 392: "Jibril came to me with…"
Abu ʿUsayb, the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“
Jibril came to me with fever and the plague. I kept the fever in Madinah and sent the plague to al-Sham. Thus, the plague is martyrdom for my nation and a mercy, while it is a punishment upon the disbeliever.”
