Takhrij Hadith 411: "I went out with the…"
Abu Rafi’ (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated:
“
I went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ from his house as he was heading to the mosque, and he was holding my hand. When we reached al-Baqi’, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sneezed and released my hand. Then he stood as though pondering something. I said: “O Prophet of Allah, may my father and mother be sacrificed for you, you said something that I did not understand”. He replied: “Yes. Jibril (Gabriel), peace be upon him, came to me and said: “When you sneeze, say: “Al-hamdu lillahi ka-karamihi, wal-hamdu lillahi ka-‘izzi jalalihi” (Praise be to Allah as befits His generosity, and praise be to Allah as befits the might of His majesty)”. For Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, says: “My servant has spoken the truth, My servant has spoken the truth, My servant has spoken the truth; he is forgiven”.”
