Takhrij Hadith 427: "The Quraysh said to the…"
On the authority of Ibn ‘Abbas, who said:
“
The Quraysh said to the Prophet ﷺ: “Supplicate to your Lord to turn Mount As-Safa into gold for us, and we will believe in you”. He said: “Will you indeed do so?” They replied: “Yes”. So he supplicated, and Jibril came to him and said: “Indeed, your Lord sends you His greetings of peace and says: If you wish, I will make Mount As-Safa turn into gold for them; then whoever disbelieves thereafter, I will punish him with a punishment unlike any I have inflicted upon anyone among the worlds. And if you wish, I will open for them the door of repentance and mercy”. The Prophet ﷺ said: “Rather, the door of repentance and mercy”.”
