Takhrij Hadith 444: "O son of 'Awf, you…"
On the authority of 'Awf that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“
O son of 'Awf, you are among the wealthy, and you will not enter Paradise except by crawling. So lend to Allah, and He will set your feet free". Ibn 'Awf said: "O Messenger of Allah, what is it that I should lend to Allah?" He replied: "Free yourself from what you possess". He said: "O Messenger of Allah, all of it?" He replied: "Yes". So Ibn 'Awf left, intending to do so. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent for him and said: "Jibril has come to me and said: Tell Ibn 'Awf to honor his guests, feed the poor, give to those who ask, and begin with those under his care. If he does that, it will be a purification of what he possesses”.”
