Takhrij Hadith 478: "Jibril, peace be upon him,…"

Narrated by Hudhayfah, who said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

“
Jibril, peace be upon him, came to me holding in his palm a mirror, the finest and brightest of mirrors, and in its center was a black spot. I said, 'For whom is this spot that I see in it?' He said, 'This is Jumu'ah (Friday).' I said, 'And what is Jumu'ah?' He said, 'It is one of the great days of your Lord. I have come to inform you of its virtue and honor in this world, what is hoped for by its people, and its name in the Hereafter. As for its honor and virtue in this world, Allah has gathered the affairs of creation within it, and among its blessings is an hour during which no Muslim man or woman asks Allah for any good except that He grants it. As for its honor, virtue, and name in the Hereafter, when Allah admits the people of Paradise into Paradise and the people of Hell into Hell, days and nights will pass for them without there being night or day as you know them. Allah will make known to them their measures and appointed times. When Friday arrives, a caller will proclaim to the people of Paradise, "O people of Paradise, come forth to the Valley of Increase." Its vastness, length, and width are known only to Allah. In it are dunes of musk whose peaks reach the heavens. The servants of the Prophets will come with pulpits, and the servants of the believers will come with chairs made of ruby. When these are set out and the people take their seats, Allah will send forth a breeze from beneath His Throne that will spread fragrance over their faces and hair. It will perfume them more skillfully than any woman among you could perfume herself if she were given all the fragrances of the earth. Then Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, will command the bearers of His Throne to place it before them, and the first thing they will hear from Him will be, "Where are My servants who obeyed Me without seeing Me, believed in My Messengers, followed My command, and supplicated to Me? This is the Day of Increase." They will answer with one voice, "Our Lord, we are pleased with You, so be pleased with us." Allah will reply, "O people of Paradise, had I not been pleased with you, I would not have settled you in My abode. Ask of Me." Then they will unite upon one request and say, "Our Lord, let us look upon Your Face." Thereupon Allah will remove the veils and reveal Himself to them, and a portion of His light will envelop them. Had Allah not decreed that they would not be consumed, they would have been burned by what overwhelmed them of His light. Then He will say to them, "Return to your dwellings." They will return having received double what they previously possessed. They will go back to their spouses, who will scarcely recognize them, nor will they recognize their spouses at first because of the radiance that has come upon them. That light will remain with them until they return to the form they had before, and their spouses will say, "You left us in one appearance and have returned in another." They will reply, "That is because Allah revealed Himself to us, and we looked upon what He willed us to behold of His greatness and majesty." No created being can encompass Him, but He showed them of His grandeur and majesty whatever He willed. They will continue enjoying the musk and delights of Paradise, and every seven days their blessings will be doubled beyond what they previously possessed." Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "That is the meaning of Allah’s statement: 'No soul knows what joy has been hidden for them as a reward for what they used to do" [Surat al-Sajdah 32:17].
