Takhrij Hadith 505: "A man passed away in…"

A man passed away in Madinah, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed the funeral prayer over him. Then he said: “I wish he had died somewhere other than his birthplace”. A man among the people asked: “Why, O Messenger of Allah?” The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: “When a person dies away from his birthplace, he is granted in Paradise a measure equal to the distance from his birthplace to the furthest point he reached before his death”.
