Takhrij Hadith 559: "The Prophet ﷺ came to…"

The Prophet ﷺ came to visit ‘Abdullah ibn Rawahah [on his sickbed], and he was unable to move or shift himself from his bed. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked: “Whom do you consider to be the martyrs among my nation?” He replied: “The one who is killed in the cause of Allah”. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said: “Then the martyrs of my nation would indeed be few. Being killed [in the cause of Allah] is martyrdom, dying of the plague is martyrdom, dying of an abdominal ailment is martyrdom, and a woman who is killed by her child during pregnancy or childbirth is a martyrdom.
