Takhrij Hadith 663: "We were with the Messenger…"

We were with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) as death approached him. He said to us: “Fear Allah regarding the prayer; fear Allah regarding the prayer”—repeating it three times—“Fear Allah regarding those whom your right hands possess. Fear Allah regarding the two weak ones: the widowed woman and the orphaned child. Fear Allah regarding the prayer”. He kept repeating it, saying: “[Attend to] the prayer” while his breath was rattling [in his throat], until his soul passed away.
