On the authority of Ibn ʿAbbas (may Allah be pleased with them both):
“
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked: "These places where the sun sets—where does it set? And these places where it rises—where does it rise?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "It follows its appointed course; it neither departs from it nor deviates from it. It sets for one people and rises for another; then it sets for one people and rises for another. So one people say: 'It has set' while another people say: 'It has risen.'"”
