Takhrij Hadith 684: "There are three things that…"

There are three things that I swear to you to be true, and I am going to relate to you a statement, so memorize it! He ﷺ said: The wealth of a servant is never diminished by charity; no servant is subjected to an injustice and bears it with patience, except that Allah increases him in honor because of it; and no servant opens a door to begging, except that Allah opens for him a door to poverty—or a similar phrase. And I am going to relate to you a statement, so memorize it! He ﷺ said: Indeed, this world is only for four types of people: a servant whom Allah has granted both wealth and knowledge, so he fears his Lord regarding his wealth, maintains his ties of kinship with it, and recognizes the rights due to Allah within it, and this person is in the loftiest of stations; a servant whom Allah has granted knowledge but has not granted wealth, so he is sincere in his intention and says: "If only I had wealth, I would have acted just like so-and-so" and he is judged according to his intention, so the reward of both of them is equal; a servant whom Allah has granted wealth but has not granted knowledge, so he squanders his wealth blindly without knowledge, does not fear his Lord regarding it, does not maintain his ties of kinship with it, and does not recognize the rights due to Allah within it, and this person is in the vilest of stations; and a servant whom Allah has granted neither wealth nor knowledge, so he says: "If only I had wealth, I would have acted just like so-and-so" and he is judged according to his intention, so the burden of sin for both of them is equal.
