Takhrij Hadith 688: "A man prayed behind the…"
On the authority of Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, who said:
“
A man prayed behind the Prophet ﷺ, and began bowing before he bowed, and rising before he rose. When the Prophet ﷺ had finished the prayer, he said: “Who did this?” The man replied: “I did, O Messenger of Allah. I wanted to know whether you would notice it or not”. The Prophet ﷺ said: “Beware of rendering the prayer deficient. When the imam bows, then bow; and when he rises, then rise”.”
