Takhrij Hadith 719: "She was with the Messenger…"

She was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when a bowl of tharid (bread soaked in broth) was brought to him. She ate with him, and Dhu al-Yadayn was also with him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then handed her a bone with some meat on it and said: "O Umm Ishaq, eat from this". [Umm Ishaq said:] I remembered that I was fasting, so my hand froze, neither extending it nor pulling it back. The Prophet ﷺ asked: "What is the matter with you?" She replied: "I was fasting, but I forgot". Dhu al-Yadayn said: "Only now, after you have eaten your fill?!" The Prophet ﷺ said: "Complete your fast, for it was only provision that Allah sent to you".
