Takhrij Hadith 744: "To proceed: True strength in…"
On the authority of al-Dahhak, he said: ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab wrote to Abu Musa:
“
To proceed: True strength in one's work is not to postpone today's task until tomorrow. For if you do so, your duties will pile up upon you, and you will no longer know which of them to undertake, so they will all be neglected. Whenever you are given a choice between two matters—one concerning this world and the other concerning the Hereafter—choose the matter of the Hereafter over that of this world. For this world will come to an end, whereas the Hereafter will endure. Remain ever in awe of Allah, and learn the Book of Allah, for it is the fountainhead of knowledge and the springtime of hearts.”
