Takhrij Hadith 751: "By Him in Whose Hand…"

By Him in Whose Hand is my soul, I had considered ordering that firewood be gathered, then ordering that the call to prayer be made, then appointing a man to lead the people in prayer. Then I would go to the men (who remained at home) and burn their houses over them. By Him in Whose Hand is my soul, if any one of them knew that he would find a fat meaty bone or two good sheep's trotters, he would surely attend the ʿIshaʾ prayer.
