The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by a grave and said: 'Bring me two [palm] fronds.' He placed one at the head and the other at the feet.Then he was asked: 'O Prophet of Allah, will this benefit him?' He replied: “It will continue to lighten some of the torment of the grave for him as long as they remain moist”.
