Takhrij Hadith 847: "We visited a man from…"
On the authority of Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), who said:
“
We visited a man from among the Ansar who was ill, and we did not leave until he passed away. We covered him with a cloth, and an elderly woman, his mother, was sitting by his head. We said to her: "O woman, seek your reward from Allah, the Mighty and Exalted, for your loss". She asked: "Has my son died?" We replied: "Yes". She said: "Are you telling the truth?" We said: "Yes". Then she raised her hands and said: "O Allah, You know that I submitted myself to You and migrated to Your Messenger in the hope that You would relieve me in every time of hardship and ease. So do not lay this calamity upon me today". Then the cloth was removed from his face, and we did not leave until we had eaten with him.”
