Takhrij Hadith 853: "I came to the Prophet…"
On the authority of Wa‘il ibn Hujr, who said:
“
I came to the Prophet ﷺ, and he said [to his companions]: “This is Wa'il ibn Hujr who has come to you. He did not come out of desire [for worldly gain] nor out of fear, but rather out of love for Allah and His Messenger”. He spread out his cloak for him, seated him by his side, embraced him, and raised him up the pulpit where he addressed the people, saying to his companions: “Be gentle with him, for he has only recently left his kingship”. I said: “My people have overcome me and taken what belongs to me”. He ﷺ replied: “I shall grant it to you, and grant you double its amount”. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me: “O Wa'il ibn Hujr, when you perform prayer, place your hands level with your ears, while a woman should place her hands level with her breasts”.”
