Takhrij Hadith 878: "Relate narrations from the Children…"

On the authority of Jabir ibn ‘Abdullah, who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

“
Relate narrations from the Children of Israel, and there is no harm in doing so, for indeed there were astonishing events among them." Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ began to narrate: "A group from the Children of Israel went out until they came to one of their graveyards. They said: 'If only we were to pray two rakʿahs and supplicate to Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, to bring out to us a man from among those who have died, so that we may ask him about death.' So they did so. While they were in that state, a man emerged from one of those graves, raising his head. He was dark-skinned, and between his eyes was the mark of prostration. He said: 'O people, what do you want with me? I have been dead for one hundred years, yet the heat of death has not subsided for me until this very moment. So supplicate to Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, that He may return me to the state I was in.'"
