Takhrij Hadith 966: "Then Sad sent Zuhrah to…"

Then Sad sent Zuhrah to Bahurasir. Zuhrah advanced from Kutha with the vanguard until he encamped at Bahurasir. There, Shirzad met him at Sabat, seeking a peace treaty and agreeing to pay the tribute. Zuhrah sent him on to Sa‘d, and he came with him, followed by the flank detachments. Hashim then set out, and Sa‘d followed behind him. Meanwhile, Zuhrah had routed Kisra's battalion, known as Buran, around al-Muzlim. Hashim reached the pass of Sabat and waited for Sa‘d until he caught up with him. At that very moment, Al-Muqarrad lion belonging to Kisra, which he had raised and chosen from among the lions of al-Muzlim, returned. With it were Kisra's battalions known as Buran, whose members used to swear by Allah every day: “The kingdom of Persia will never perish so long as we live”. When Sa‘d reached them, Al-Muqarrad lion charged at the people. Hashim immediately confronted it and killed it, and his sword thereafter came to be called al-Matan. Sa‘d kissed Hashim's head, and Hashim kissed Sa‘d's foot. Sa‘d then sent him ahead to Bahurasir. He then descended to al-Muzlim and recited: {Did you not swear before that you would never be removed?} When the calm of the night had set in, Sa‘d broke camp and marched until he encamped with the people at Bahurasir. Whenever groups of Muslim cavalry arrived at Bahurasir, they halted and proclaimed the takbir. This continued until the last of those with Sa‘d had arrived. He remained with the people at Bahurasir for two months, and they crossed over in the third.
