Takhrij Hadith 981: "When Mu'awiyah wanted to channel…"

When Mu'awiyah wanted to channel his spring at Uhud, they wrote to him: "We cannot channel it except over the graves of the martyrs". He wrote back: "Exhume them". I saw them being carried on the men's shoulders as though they were people asleep. Then a spade struck the tip of Hamzah ibn 'Abd al-Muttalib's foot, and blood began to flow from it.
