Takhrij Hadith 997: "While a man was in…"

On the authority of Abu Hurayrah, that the Prophet ﷺ said:

“
While a man was in a barren land, he heard a voice from a cloud saying: "Water the garden of so-and-so". The cloud then moved aside and poured its water onto a rocky tract, where one of the water channels collected all of it. He followed the water until he came upon a man standing in his garden, directing the water with his spade. He said to him: "O servant of Allah, what is your name?" He replied: "So-and-so" the same name that he had heard from the cloud. The man said to him: "O servant of Allah, why do you ask me my name?" He replied: "I heard a voice from the cloud from which this water came, saying: "Water the garden of so-and-so" mentioning your name. So what do you do with it?" He said: "Since you have mentioned this, I look at what it produces: I give one-third of it in charity, I and my family eat one-third, and I reinvest one-third of it into the garden."
