‌The consumer of usury, the one who pays it, the one who writes it down, and the one who witnesses it—if they act with knowledge thereof; the woman who performs tattoos and the woman who seeks them; the withholder of Zakat and the one who oversteps in its collection; the one addicted to wine; and the one who reverts to a bedouin life after his emigration (Hijrah)—all are cursed upon the tongue of Muhammad ﷺ on the Day of Resurrection.

That he went out with the prophet (May Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) to the Musalla (prayer ground) and saw people were trading. He said: “O merchants!” And they all replied to him turning their necks and gazes toward him. Then he said : indeed the merchants will be resurrected on the Day of Judgement as wrongdoers, except for those who fear Allah, act righteously, and are truthful.
